A$AP Rocky Arrested in Connection to 2021 Shooting; Released on Bond

The rapper was charged with assault with a deadly weapon upon returning from a trip to Barbados with girlfriend Rihanna

Rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport for his connection to a November shooting.

A$AP Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, arrived at the airport via private jet, returning from a vacation in Barbados with his girlfriend, Rihanna, who is currently pregnant with the couple's first child.

According to multiple law enforcement sources, Rihanna was with A$AP when he was arrested. A$AP's attorney confirmed the arrest, and that a search warrant was executed at the rapper's residence in Los Angeles.

A$AP was booked and bail was set at $550,000. He was released less than three hours after posting bond, and has a court date set for August 17.

The rapper is the suspect in a November shooting shooting near Vista Del Mar and Selma Avenue. The victim claimed that A$AP approached him with a handgun and shot at him three to four times, according to the LAPD.

The incident was not reported on at the time. The department detailed the case after A$AP's arrest in a public statement, which read,

"Early this morning, LAPD officers arrested Mayers for assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) at the Los Angeles International Airport. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration."

A$AP was arrested once before in 2019 after a fight broke out with his entourage in Sweden. He spent a month in jail before being convicted of assault and given a fine of $1,000.
