Ariana Grande's sixth album, Positions has fans talking and some think that the clever artist intentionally added specific sounds in reference to her past relationship with rapper Mac Miller, who passed away in 2018. Here are the hidden references on the album:
Crickets On The Album
Throughout the album, fans have noticed cricket sounds using in songs more than once. They're first heard near the beginning of the song positions as Ariana sings:
"Heaven sent you to me / I'm just hoping I don't repeat history"
The cricket sounds are heard once again in the song just like magic the second time around when she sings:
"Take my pen and write some love letters to heaven"
What do these two songs have in common? They both say the word "heaven." This could be a Ariana's way of speaking to the late Mac Miller, in reference to a song of his that was recently leaked, and guess what the title is...
...Crickets.
The Ending of 'obvious'...
At the end of the song obvious, we hear a nice chord progression that goes a little something like B/F/E/B with a cool ethereal effect to it. Another song by Mac Miller ends with a pretty similar sound...
...Sounds A Lot Like 'Come Back To Earth'
Miller's song Come Back To Earth ends with the same chord progression as Ariana's obvious ends in.
Water In Reference To 'Swimming'
Following obvious on the track list and wrapping up Positions is the R&B ballad, pov. The song starts off with trickling water sounds, and fans think this could be in reference to the last album created by Mac Miller, titled Swimming.
So what do you thunk about these hidden references? Were they intentional or are we just reaching here?
