It's time to get ready all you cool cats and kittens! Netflix just dropped their first official trailer for the second season of the beloved docuseries Tiger King this week.
It really comes as no surprise for Netflix to capitalize on the massive success that Tiger King brought to the platform almost a year and a half ago. The antics of Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin was one of the staple quarantine-crazes that occupied our minds, conversations, and social media posts.
With the release of the second trailer, it's evident that the directors, Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin, are set to expose even 'more madness and mayhem', as Netflix teased during their first announcement of Tiger King's return. Now with the second trailer riling fans up even more, it's clear that the original storylines from the first season are about to get deeper and crazier than any fan of the show could anticipate.
The log line for the Season 2 trailer hints that fans have "only scratched the surface". The description for the trailer also shares:
With Joe Exotic behind bars and Carole Baskin closing in on ownership of his disreputable zoo, the Emmy-nominated saga continues its twisted course with Tiger King 2 as newfound revelations emerge on the motivations, backstories, and secrets of America's most notorious big cat owners. Thought you knew the whole story? Just you wait.
Season 2 is set to expand on the characters introduced in the latter part of the first season, including Jeff and Lauren Lowe, Tim Stark, Allen Glover, and James Garretson. And of course, the rivalry between Exotic and Baskin is going to be another facet of Season 2, just this time, shown from jail.
Netflix's trailer exposed how the massive success of Season 1 wasn't only profitable for the streaming service, as almost all subjects from Tiger King now have "more money than God", as Lowe boasted in the preview.
Another Season 2 plotline to look forward to is the deeper look into the death of Baskin's late husband, Don Lewis. The trailer teased other possible explanations for his death and supposed murder, revealing that Lewis even had a shady past of his own.
Tiger King 2 will be hitting our home screens this Fall, on November 17.
