The Weeknd has announced Dawn FM as its upcoming fifth studio album, releasing Friday, January 7. The album features Quincy Jones, Lil Wayne, Tyler the Creator, Oneohtrix Point Never, and actor Jim Carrey, as stated in the trailer teased on Instagram.
The preview ends with a voiceover that says, "You are now listening to 103.5 Dawn FM. You've been in the dark for way too long. It's time to walk into the light and accept your fate with open arms."
In a screenshot the Weeknd posted on Instagram last week, he wrote,
"Music can heal, and that feels more important than another album rollout. Let's just drop the whole thing and enjoy it with the people."
The following day, The Weeknd then shared another cryptic image of the sun between trees with the caption, "wake up at dawn tomorrow…" which alluded to the album's near release.
The Weeknd has stayed busy with several collaborations since then. He joined FKA Twigs for "Tears in the Club," remixed "Save Your Tears" with Ariana Grande, linked up with RosalÃa on "La Fama," made an appearance on the posthumous Aaliyah song "Poison," and collaborated with Post Malone on "One Right Now."
The tracklist has not yet been confirmed, but it is speculated to include the recent single 'Take My Breath' and the songs we have snippets from like 'I Love It When You're Angry,' 'Already Time (Under The Sun),' and 'Dawn FM.'
