The Final Trailer for 'Scream' Shows New Weapon

Scream (2022) - Final Trailer - Paramount Pictures

Friday will debut the new Scream movie, and with another action-packed trailer, fans may be rushing to the theaters this weekend.

The final trailer for the historic horror franchise Scream is here!

The first Scream movie came out in 1996, and it paved the way for high school teenager slasher movies. What made this movie different from others was the villain-- The original Scream was more of a whodunnit. It looks like that trend will continue 25 years after the movie's premiere.

The one-minute trailer starts with the iconic David Arquette reprising his role as Officer Dwight "Dewey" Riley, as he confronts Ghostface yet again.

"The killer is left in the past, "Arquette narrates as he draws his gun to the villain.

As the trailer goes on, we see new high school characters and new weapons used by Ghostface. A quick glimpse of the killer using a flamethrower is a stunner because the weapon of choice was always a knife.

Arquette isn't the only original actor returning. Neve Campbell will return as Sidney Prescott. Scream fans are delighted that they stuck with the quick-thinking Campbell. She won fans over with her first performance, and people cannot see anyone replacing her.

Also returning is Friends star, Courteney Cox. Back in May, she spoke to Drew Barrymore about the new movie. Cox said,

"'Scream,' this is the fifth one. It's not 'Scream 5 'though, this is 'Scream.' These directors are incredible, they're making it absolutely, it's a new franchise. It's hip, it's scary, it's just a new 'Scream.' It's not a reboot, it's not a remake, it's just a brand new launch. I think it's going to be fantastic."

It isn't the norm for a studio to release a final trailer just days before it hits theaters, but we know fans do not mind. Scream comes out Friday and is planning to stream on Paramount+ later this year.
