In The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls, get ready for a fierce competition between the Mitchell brothers to see who can decorate the best Christmas House. In last year's movie the whole family worked together to create the festive project. This time, Robert Buckley and Jonathan Bennett are each decorating their own holiday home in a reality show competition.
"It's funny to watch adults behave like children. Most of us have siblings so it's very very relatable," Robert Buckley said.
But it's not only the brother's dynamic that's relatable, so are the Mitchell parents played byEmmy nominees Sharon Lawrence and Treat Williams. This time the two are grandparents!
"Phyllis and Bill are enjoying, I would guess, a third chapter to their lives. They're certainly enjoying each other in ways that I'm not even going to reveal," Lawrence said.
Last year, the first movie broke new ground by featuring the first gay couple ever in a Hallmark Christmas movie. Williams shared with us, that in the first film he insisted that he and his movie son, Jonathan Bennett, share a hug. That way there would be no ambiguity to the audience, that this man loved his son unconditionally.
"I am so proud to have been a part of something that moved, not just Hallmark, a lot of people were afraid, a lot of filmmakers were afraid of pursuing something like that ," Williams said.
Sharon Lawrence added:
"And it's great to play a parent who has more than just accepted but celebrates theirs son's love in whatever form, their child's love, in whatever form."
The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Halls premieres Saturday, December 18th, on Hallmark Channel.
