Our Jaymes Vaughan caught up with Soap Opera Digest's editorial director Stephanie Sloane to get the latest soap opera news.
Steve Burton Tells All
Soap opera plots are constantly twisting and turning and the characters' lives are always changing unexpectedly. On General Hospital, Steve Burton's character, Jason, is no exception. From breakups, to hookups, to engagements, Burton's character has been through it all. Sloane said that Burton "totally understands why fans are upset about the twists [because] he's been invested in shows before and their outcomes." Now, the fans of General Hospital are very dedicated, and sometimes, it proves difficult to distinguish fiction from reality. According to Sloane, "it bothers [Burton] when they start attacking his costars personally. Ultimately, he says, they're doing their job and doing their best to bring to life the story that's written." Catch General Hospital weekdays on ABC.
Eric and Nicole Call It Quits
It's the end of the road for Eric and Nicole on Days of Our Lives. According to Sloane, "Eric and Nicole decide to split, marking the end of Greg Vaughan's short visit." With Greg Vaughan's return coming to a close after appearing in nearly 600 episodes of Days of Our Lives, let's reflect on his soap opera history. Firstly, Vaughan has portrayed Eric on the seriessince 2012, with short breaks in 2016 and 2019. As his exit approaches, only time will tell what the future holds for Eric who has been portrayed by several different actors and was first introduced as a baby in 1984. Vaughan's history with soap operas doesn't end there. He appeared in both The Young and the Restless and General Hospital back in the early 2000s.
