Rockefeller Tree

The holiday season can now officially begin with the Rockefeller Tree standing in New York City.

The Rockefeller Tree has always been one of the most important elements to kick off the holiday season. People all around the world wait to see the new tree for of its symbolic importance.

Last year, things didn't go so smoothly -- there was great controversy regarding the Rockefeller Tree for its appearance. On social media, people reflected on the fact that it deeply represented the turbulent year 2020, marked by the coronavirus pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement, wildfires and more.

Thankfully, there's a new hopeful spirit for the Rockefeller Tree 2021, which arrived November 13th in New York City, nice and tall from Maryland. This is the first time that the tree has been chosen in Maryland and curious spectators are now visiting the Rockefeller Plaza to encapsulate this moment in time through pictures or videos.

But with the decorations the Christmas tree will be even more special.

This year, it will be decorated in 50,000 multi-colored LED lights on about five miles of wire. And, of course, the three dimensional Swarovski star will complete the Rockefeller Tree -- it was made back in 2018 by Daniel Libeskind with three million crystals.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony will air on NBC on Wednesday, December 1st.
