From the Wimbledon Championships to the Euro 2020 Finals, the British royal family showed up to support England in the country's biggest day in sports.
Prince George learned a difficult lesson in sports yesterday as he watched his home team lose the Euro 2020 Finals. Italy defeated England in penalty kicks following a 1–1 draw after extra time at Euro 2020 on Sunday.
George, 7, was once again joined in attendance by his parents Prince William and Kate Middleton for the final match at Wembley Stadium. Just like England's previous semifinals appearance vs. Denmark, the young royal and his dad wore matching outfits: sharp blazers and a red and blue tie. Meanwhile, Kate honored her country's colors in a white blazer.
Just two minutes into the championship match, George and his parents were already on their feet and exhilarated as England scored their first goal.
However, the smiles and cheers quickly turned to frowns as it would be the only time England scored the entire game. William, who happens to be President of the Football Association, publicly congratulated Italy on their win immediately after the game.

"Heartbreaking. Congratulations @Azzurri on a great victory," he wrote on Instagram. "@England, you've all come so far, but sadly this time it wasn't our day. You can all hold your heads high, and be so proud of yourselves — I know there's more to come. W"
Euro 2024 will take place three years from now in Germany, meaning George will still be cheering his home team on every step of the way.
