Nick Jonas's conversation on SiriusXM Hits 1 about new single and album, Priyanka Chopra and more!

Nick Jonas recently did an interview on SiriusXM Hits 1 and opened up about his new single, "This Is Heaven", his new upcoming album, Priyanka Chopra and more. Check what he had to say!

The Morning Mashup hosted by SiriusXM's Nicole Ryan, Ryan Sampson and Stanley T interviewed Nick Jonas for SiriusXM Hits 1 and the singer had a lot to say about his new music and relationship with wife Priyanka Chopra.

Nick Jonas doesn't always sing solo. He usually collaborates with brothers Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas, forming the band The Jonas Brothers. Sampson immediately started the interview asking how Jonas recognized a specific song as a solo release or for The Jonas Brothers band instead.

Well, I've been getting this question more and more, now because I think it's surprising to people that I'm doing both -- That both can coexist in such a seamless way, but I think that that's kind of the beauty of this new chapter that the brothers and I sort of set up set upon back in 2019, going back to Happiness Begins, relaunched everything."

Jonas also shared that he had seen the group BTS performing couple of years earlier at the Rose Bowl in California and that their cohesiveness was outstanding.

"It was cool to see them, you know, kind of doing their individual songs and then coming back as the group and doing their songs together. And then, you know, just that ability to have that freedom as a group is really rare."

And Ryan wondered if an honest conversation about going solo did happen between the brothers and Jonas clarified that there was no bad blood between them.

"I just kind of went to the guys like, 'Hey, I wanna play some music.' And they're both like, 'we love this. This is great. What's it for?' I was like, 'well, I think it's for me.' And they're like, 'okay.' [laughs] It was just sort of simple."

Jonas also opened up about the meaning of his new song "This Is Heaven", which has a lot to do with his relationship with Chopra. While Jonas was making the album in LA, the actress was filming in Germany: the two were completely separated from each other. But when they finally reunited, Jonas wrote the song with Greg Kurstin and Mozella, who co-wrote the entire album with him.

"It was just meant to encapsulate kind of that euphoric feeling of being with your person. And for me it's obviously a romantic thing, but I think for the moment we've all been in, it's really about that feeling of when we're going to do that first normal thing again, or when we're going to see that the friends and family we haven't seen in almost a year or beyond."

Ryan then asked how many songs in the album are going to be about his wife Chopra and Jonas was ready to respond to the question.

"I feel like I could try to write about something else, its just that the songs are not as good."

As it is for many artists, Jonas's main inspiration is love. Stanley T wondered what the singer found in Chopra that he wasn't able find in any other woman previously dated.

"I think that it's just that magical connection you've got with somebody when it's right. We're very lucky. We definitely knew each other pretty well before we really started dating properly. And I think that foundation as friends always helps any relationship sort of evolve in a natural and organic way."

And in these complicated times, writing the new upcoming album has been something incredibly therapeutic for Jonas.

"This project and this whole kind of second chapter of this year, starting back in July, just digging into the creative, I think it was just a life source for me to just stay sane and keep my head on straight amidst all the craziness. And a lot of that was just trying to write songs that were true and authentic to our journey together."

Music has the power to unite us and Jonas hopes that his album, that delves into being separated and reunited with the people we love, may resonate with his audience in a deep way.

While we wait for Jonas's album to be released, we can listen to "This Is Heaven" and "Spaceman" over and over again!
