Actress Priyanka Chopra appeared on Sirius XM's The Jess Cagle Show on Tuesday for an interview about her newly published book, private life, and much more.
While talking to SiriusXM's Jess Cagle and co-host Julia Cunningham, Priyanka Chopra Jonas opened up about the possibility of starting a family with husband Nick Jonas.
Cagle asked about the qualities Priyanka saw in Nick when first meeting him that led to her picturing starting a family with him:
"I dunno if I was looking for the father of my children when I met Nick [Jonas]. I think what happened with him, I just met a guy that really surprised me. Nick is very self-assured as a man, and that's not a very common trait with men, sorry, no offense Jess, but he kind of, he knows what he wants. He has integrity. He is my greatest cheerleader. He enjoys it so much when I succeed and he champions me and, you know, my father was like that to me. And when I met Nick right in the beginning, he sent me back to work actually. I was trying to get a meeting canceled because I wanted to hang out with him. And he said, "I'm never going to tell you to cancel work, because I know how hard you have been, how hard you've worked to get here. So that's going to be your choice. I'm going to entertain our friends and come back to us whenever you're done." And I was like, what, here's this guy who's not telling me that he comes first and you know, my career doesn't and it was just amazing. And I knew that that was, that was my guy."
Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Dating Nick Jonas
Priyanka also spoke more in depth about one of the stories mentioned in her book about one of her first dates with Nick. The two had drinks at The Carlyle before Priyanka invited him back to her place, but it wasn't like in the movies, she explained:
"Well let me tell you, I told him that it wasn't one of those, like, let's go back to my place kind of things, you know, Nick, he loves his cigars and The Carlyle was shutting and I had arrived late... So I was like, "you know what, I live five minutes out. Why don't you come to my house? And you know, you can have a cigar and we can continue this conversation." It was very, like, at that point, it was the first time we'd kind of spend time with each other. And I told him in the car, I was like,, "my mum's home is that all right?" And he was like, he made a joke about it. And he said, of course, I'd love to meet your mom. The problem is I forgot to tell her. And she was chilling, watching SVU on the couch. And as you do at one o'clock in the morning, getting her murder fix in. And here I walk in with a boy and she jumped out of bed and was like trying to be smiling and gracious and awkward at the same time. And she went into the bathroom and summoned me. And she was like, "come in, come in here." And I was like, "what?" And she was putting her lipstick on. And she was like, "you didn't tell me you were being a boy and I'm not going to come out." I was like, "why are you wearing lipstick? If you're not going to come out and say hi, I'm confused." [laughs] It was just a confusing situation for everyone. But you know what, now they're really good friends. And they hang out all the time. So it's great."
Priyanka also recounted the same night thinking it ended badly when Jonas went in for only a hug at the end of it:
"I, it was that night actually and I may have shut the door and I was like, "I guess it didn't go well," you know, I don't know. It was like, was it mom's fault?"
In the end, of course, Nick was just being respectful and playing it cool!
