Selena Quintanilla, who passed away at 23, will be portrayed in a new Netflix series set to premiere in December. This biographical series will be highlighting the life of Selena leading up to her fame in the early 1990's. Audiences will get an insight on the star's rise and how she ended up as an influence for women everywhere.
Selena was a well-known artist across the globe, and she still stands as a figure for the Latinx community. With memorable songs such as, "Como La Flor" and "I Could Fall in Love," Selena has sparked influence, not only on the people of her time, but on today's generation as well.
She popularized the idea of Latinx music, and had a major impact on the unapologetic nature of women's fashion. Selena once said, "Always believe that the impossible is possible."

The premiere date announcement was made today via Twitter by Netflix's Latinx social media arm ConTodo, @contodoNetflix, with the caption, "Every legend begins with a dream." The new trailer for the series was also attached to the tweet and the reviews are great.
Star Packed Cast For New Show 'Selena: The Series'
Christian Serratos stars as Selena in the new series. You may have seen this actress in various works, such as The Walking Dead, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, and the Twilightsaga. Serratos says what she finds most enduring about Selena is her "ability to defy boundaries" and how Selena served as a catalyst for Latinas in the face of adversity.
Starring alongside Serratos is actor Julio Macias, famously known for his role as Oscar 'Spooky' Diaz on On My Block. Macias will be playing songwriter, Pete Astudillo, who sang and danced alongside Selena up until her death in 1995.
Other cast members include Gabriel Chavirra (East Los High) as Selena's brother, A.B. Quintanilla; Ricardo Antonio Chavira (Desperate Houswives) as Selena's father, Abraham Quintanilla; and Seidy Lopez (Training Day; Selena) as Selena's mother, Marcella Quintanilla.
Audiences are excited to see where the series will go, in comparison to other tributes of Selena. Many are excited for this series to keep Selena's legacy relevant today and, not only, satisfy current fans of the artist, but bring in a new wave of Selena fans.
