Kaitlyn Bristowe talked to Tamron Hall about replacing Chris Harrison on The Bachelorette.
Bristowe said,
“It’s been such a wild ride from the start to where I am now with that franchise. I was this edgy little Canadian who never thought I’d make it past night one on The Bachelor and then going on as The Bachelorette. I didn’t feel like I fit that mold of The Bachelorette.”
Bristowe understood that "Bachelor nation" has a committed fan base that despises change. She said,
“I felt so much pressure to become the co-host of The Bachelorette because bachelor nation is very loyal and very dedicated, and they don’t like change.”
Bristowe ended with encouragement for future hosts, sharing a few words of advice:
"You're not taking over for somebody not stepping into a role. You are just being Kaitlyn, and you're going to bring something different to show where you have been in this women's position and can have empathy and compassion and a different understanding than anyone else, and you can mentor her instead of just stepping into a role as a host."
Bristowe was a contestant on the nineteenth season of The Bachelor and later became the bachelorette. She is now engaged to a former contestant from season 14 of The Bachelorette, Jason Tartick.
