Actress Julianne Moore confirmed to join the cast for upcoming Dear Evan Hansen film adaptation.
Moore will be bringing Heidi Hansen from stage to screen, requiring vocal talents as the film will include all the hits from the broadway musical. Dear Evan Hansen opened on broadway in 2016 and quickly became a smash hit thanks to its meaningful music and powerful story line.
Moore will play the mother to Evan Hansen, a teenager with severe social anxiety who must navigate the ups and downs of growing up and dealing with mental health. His story begins when the parents of Connor Murphy mistake one of Evan's letters to himself as Connor's suicide note. Evan continues to get wrapped up in lies as he grows a relationship with the Murphy family and falls in love with the daughter Zoe.
Mother of the Murphys, Cynthia, is set to be played by Amy Adams, and Amandla Stenberg has also signed on to play classmate Alana. Ben Platt who won the Best Actor in a Musical Tony Award for his portrayal of Evan Hansen in the Broadway production, will reprise his role for the highly anticipated film.
Universal acquired the film rights back in 2018 and is bringing back much of the show's creative team to produce the film.
