It was recently announced that Lady Gaga is in early talks to star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Phillips' "Joker: Folie à Deux." Now, it looks like the film will be a musical.
Phillips and co-writer Scott Silver have been writing the sequel to the 2019 smash hit movie for some time and only recently showed it to the studio. Last week, Phillips unveiled the title of the project in an Instagram post wherein Phoenix is reading the script.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Phoenix's involvement in the project is not legally fixed yet.
The details on Gaga's involvement are even murkier and safeguarded, but if a deal is made, the "Hold My Hand" singer will play Harley Quinn. In the comics, Quinn is a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum who falls in love with Joker and becomes his partner in crime.
Sources told THR the sequel is also a musical and with Gaga co-starring in the project, turning Joker into a musical seems too juicy of an idea to pass up. Even Phoenix has experience singing on the big screen, most notably in his 2005 portrayal of Johnny Cash in the multi-Oscar-nominated biopic "Walk The Line."
