Jane Fonda is set to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at this year's Golden Globes!
Fonda will be receiving what is considered the "highest honor" given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the Cecil B. DeMille Award. In previous years, recipients have included Oprah Winfrey, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep. The actress and activist has taken front and center in more ways than one. As
In a statement, HFPA President Ali Sar said:
"The Hollywood Foreign Press Association takes great pride in bestowing the 2021 Cecil B. DeMille Award to Jane Fonda. For more than five decades, Jane's breadth of work has been anchored in her unrelenting activism, using her platform to address some of the most important social issues of our time. Her undeniable talent has gained her the highest level of recognition, and while her professional life has taken many turns, her unwavering commitment to evoking change has remained. We are honored to celebrate her achievements at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards."
Fonda has taken front and center in a plethora of popular tv shows and films... From her early days with Fun with Dick and Jane, Klute andNine to Five, to her more current roles in Monster-in-Law , and Grace and Frankie, Fonda is known for her vast resume of bold roles. But she's well known off the screen, as well. The seven-time Golden Globe winner has become an ultra vocal activist and philanthropist, protesting the Vietnam war in the 60s, and more recently, leading "Fire Drill Fridays" to raise awareness for climate change.
