Harry Styles Joins the Star-Studded Cast for Olivia Wilde's New Film

Harry Styles

Harry Styles Replaces Shia LaBeouf in Olivia Wilde's new project Don't Worry Darling.

Harry Styles will make another acting debut after starring in the World War II film Dunkirk in 2017. His second big acting role will be in Olivia Wilde's new film Don't Worry Darling.

Styles is replacing Shia LaBeouf in the psychologically thriller. LaBeouf has backed out of the film reportedly due to scheduling conflicts.

The former One Direction member has been offered acting roles since starring in Dunkirk but has turned them down to focus on music. He previously was offered the role of Prince Eric in Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid but turned down the job to tour for his latest album Fine Line. Styles' tour has since been postponed to 2021 due to the pandemic.

The British singer is not the only big name attached to the New Line Cinemas project; he joins Florence Pugh (Little Women), Chris Pine (Wonder Woman) and Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey).

Not much is known about the film but it will be set in the 1950s within a utopian community in the California desert. Styles will play Jack, Florence Pugh's "picture-perfect husband, who loves her dearly, but is hiding a dark secret from her," according to Collider.

Pugh's character is an unhappy housewife who starts to notice strange occurrences in the utopian town. Johnson is Styles and Pugh's neighbor who begins to act strangely and is trying to warn Pugh about their community. Pine will be playing a leader that is idolized by his staff and their wives in the town.

This will not be Olivia Wilde's first project as director, last year she made her directing debut with Booksmart. She also has various projects currently in the works such as an upcoming Marvel film.

Don't Worry Darling is scheduled to start shooting in late 2020 but with numerous other Hollywood projects during the pandemic it is likely that the start of production will be pushed back.
