Gal Gadot has played Wonder Woman since 2016 in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, followed by her solo film Wonder Woman and Justice League, both released the following year. Recently, we've seen her in 2020 with Wonder Woman 1984 and Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Gadot's Wonder Woman has always appeared fierce, compassionate and loving...and now we know why.

During a virtual award season chat, Gadot revealed that after watching a documentary about Princess Diana she decided that Wonder Woman had to have the exact same traits as the Princess. Particularly two elements stood out to Gadot: compassion and always caring deeply for people.

Gadot also explained that showing these vulnerable sides of her character allowed the audience to connect more with Wonder Woman. Superheroes are usually inherently strong and determined to do good in the world, but at the end of the day, they still share human traits just as we do. Princess Diana always put her humanity first and her legacy will never fail to surprise us.
