Since the official termination of her father's conservatorship, Britney has taken to her social media accounts to express gratitude for those who amplified her cries for concern and to publicly cherish her newfound freedom. In a tweet that Britney has pinned on her Twitter account, she praised the efforts made by fans and activists throughout the world that helped give volume to her voice.

Since 2008, all of Britney's financial, medical, and personal decisions have been under the complete control of her father, Jamie Spears. His domination of Britney's entire existence came to and end in an L.A. courtroom Friday afternoon, following Judge Brenda Penny's declaration that the conservatorship over her person and estate is "no longer required, effective immediately".

Although her father's role in the conservatorship has concluded in regards to her person, the judge was unable to make a ruling in regards to her estate. Jamie Spears was in charge of her estate in the conservatorship until September of this year, after Britney first made legal claims about his exploitation.

Since then, Jamie Spears was suspended from being the conservator of her estate and her finances were handed over to a certified public accountant under the name of John Zabel. Zabel has been transferring her assets into Britney's own trust but the true information regarding her finances are still unknown.

Since 2019, the conservator of Britney's person was Jodi Montgomery, a licensed care professional and personal fiduciary. In the Friday ruling, Montgomery said she hopes Britney lives a "safe, happy, and fulfilling life".

When Britney and her lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, brought the case to court in September, they contended that the conservatorship be ended without further medical or psychological evaluations, which Judge Penny granted.

Britney began spreading awareness about the malpractice of her father's role in the conservatorship over this past summer, calling the legal arrangement exploitative and traumatizing. While Spears was advocating for her own freedom, social movements swept across social media and resulted in a multitude of in-person protests.

Over this past year alone, three different documentaries, Britney vs Spears, Controlling Britney Spears, and Framing Britney Spears, have all brought substantial attention to the undeniable misconduct of the conservatorship.

A culmination of all these efforts, especially those of Britney and her lawyer, have contributed to her new independence. Additionally, the exploitation committed by those involved have all been brought into public light.
