The beginning of the story we didn't realize we truly needed until now!

The first official images of the HBO spin-off series House of the Dragon have been released.


House of the Dragonis the prequel to the fan favorite series Game of Thrones. This movie brings the viewers back a couple hundred years prior to the Game of Thrones events. It is based on the book "Fire & Blood" and follows the story of House Targaryen.

The author of the book, George R.R. Martin, has signed a deal with HBO and HBO Max to create content for them over the next 5-years, according toVariety.

Images from the shows production were just released to Instagram on May 5th, showcasing the main characters of the show.

The new series stars Emma D'Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. This isn't her first debut on TV as she has appeared in Truth Seekers and Hanna. D'Arcy's character in this show will follow as the dragon rider who is first born child of King Visereys.

House of Dragons will also star Matt Smith to play Prince Daemon Targaryen, the kings younger brother.

"The Sea Snake" will be played by Steve Toussaint. His name is Lord Corlys Velaryon and is part of the Velaryon bloodline that is just as old os the House Targaryen.

Olivia Cook, previously seen on Vanity Fair and Sound of Metal, will be playing Alicent Hightower how is the daughter of Otto Hightower.

According to Variety, House of the Dragon was given a 10-episode run that will potentially be released in 2022. The production was announced on April 26 as the first day.

Within the past few weeks, word has been spread that there are multiple shows in the works at HBO within the Game of Thrones boarders. It is said to have another series from Martin in action with his story Tales of Drunk and Egg.

Each of these shows will be executive produced by Martin as well as other adventures like developing a live stage show for Broadway, according to THR.
