From press conferences about the coronavirus pandemic to being an InStyle digital cover star, it has been quite the year for Dr. Anthony Fauci. Now, the nation's leading coronavirus voice is throwing out the first pitch Thursday in Washington, D.C. when the World Series champion Washington Nationals host the New York Yankees.

Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and has been a key player on providing information to the public on COVID-19. Despite being from New York, he is also a big Nationals fan, as shown when he wears face masks with team's logo.
The MLB has been on hiatus, but Fauci has expressed interest in seeing teams play, saying:
"I think you'll probably get enough buy-in from people who are dying to see a baseball game, particularly me. I'm living in Washington, we have the world champion Washington Nationals. I want to see them play again."
On June 17th, the MLB and the players union came up with a 60 game season with fully prorated salaries.
