The adventures of James Bond will not continue until the new 007 is “reinvented.”
After Daniel Craig’s final film, producer for "James Bond," Barbara Broccoli, recently shared details on what’s next for the franchise. She revealed that fans should not expect Special Agent Bond to reappear on the big screen for years.
And who will be this new 007? Even the producers don’t know, as the search for a new actor has not begun. At a London event to honor her and her brother for their BFI Fellowships, Broccoli told Deadline,
“Nobody’s in the running.”
Broccoli was presented with her fellowship by Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris, who appear in the Bond films as M and Miss Moneypenny respectively.
However, Broccoli mentioned that the new Bond actor is not the only mystery for the franchise. She continued,
“We’re working out where to go with him, we’re talking that through. There isn’t a script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time. I’d say that filming is at least two years away.”
For the time being, the future of James Bond after “No Time To Die,” will remain up in the air.
