John Schneider Talks Cyberbullying & New Fatherly Role In 'Switched'

The Dukes of Hazzard star sat down to chat with us about his new film.

John Schneider is no stranger to Hollywood. He's played Bo Duke in Dukes of Hazzard in the 1970's, Superman's father, and has worked with Tyler Perry on the show The Haves and The Have Nots. Now, he's taking on a new role as an overbearing father in the new movie Switched.

Schneider taking fans into the life of a teenager, along with his on-screen spouse, played by The Bold and the Beautiful's Denise Richards.

"We are living vicariously through the popularity of our influencer daughter, so we don't know if she's mean or nice - we have no idea, and we don't care, because we are selfish, narcissistic, very funny people," Schneider said.

The flick's plot follows Schneider's on-screen influencer daughter who wakes up in the body of her wallflower classmate and vice versa.

"It's like Freaky Friday but one thing that [the film does] so incredibly well, is that you have to eventually start to realize, 'Wait a minute, the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence.'"

The film's motto is "Lead with Love," by telling a story about putting oneself in another's shoes, rising above and leading with love. In today's modern era of cancel culture, cyberbullying and obsession over Instagram filters, the movie hopes to inspire people to spread more kindness.

"I think this movie will open your eyes to a lot of the world. Watch it especially if you have teenagers... if one of your teenagers has been bullied, is being bullied, or if one of your teenagers has a large social media following."

Switched is available now on DVD, OnDemand, and for streaming on PureFlix.
