The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards is the latest award show to take place during the coronavirus pandemic. Many stars weighed in on the night, sharing their gratitude, preparation, as well as support for the major winners.
The legendary award show premiered on Sunday evening on ABC. Schitt's Creek set a historic record with the most wins in a single season for a comedy series, reigning in nine trophies. Many stars spoke out about the main winner of the night.
Dan Levy
Daniel Levy is a writer and actor for the hit show who took home many Emmys including Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series, and Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series. He appeared many times throughout the night and was so humbled by his notable wins. He posted a late-night shoutout to his mother for her constant love and support.
Eugene Levy
Dan's father, Eugene, contributed to the nine wins of the night, taking home Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series. He thanked his fans on early Monday morning for their votes and support.
Killing Eve star Sandra Oh posted a series of tweets honoring her fellow Canadian actors who took home the series of trophies for their role in the show.
Legendary singer Paula Abdul took to Twitter to congratulate the show on their comedy win and to actress Anne Frances who scored Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series.
Mariah Carey tweeted a special shoutout to Daniel Levy. The singer crashed the show's commencement video for the class of 2020 where she sang "Hero" with the cast.
Canadian actor Justin Trudeau honored the show and the rest of the Canadians who were nominated at the Emmys this year.
Regina King
Actress Regina King scored Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Series for her performance in Watchmen. She wore a shirt honoring the late Breonna Taylor which received major support. In her Twitter video, she thanked the crew of the show who worked hard to put the show together.
Zendaya Breaks Major Record
Zendaya was a hot topic last night for her legendary record. She was honored with Outstanding Actress In A Drama Series for her role in Euphoria. This 24-year-old star is the youngest and the second black recipient of this award.
Emmys Preparation
Jennifer Aniston showed how she got ready for the Emmys, with a facial and some champagne. The iconic actress was up for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series for her role in The Morning Show on Apple TV+.
Jennifer Aniston's Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon celebrated the many projects up for Emmys this year including Little Fires Everywhere and Big Little Lies.
Kerry Washington shared a post highlighting last year's Emmys look. She was nominated for Lead Actress In A Limited Series, as well as Outstanding Limited Series for her work in Little Fires Everywhere.
Watchmen's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II scored Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Limited Series for his role and shared a post of him in his classy striped suit in the comfort of his own home.
