NBC announces that the 2021 Billboard Music Awards are coming to air on Sunday, May 23rd at 8 p.m. ET with further announcements coming soon.

The BBMAs are an acclaimed award show, due to its intense criteria to be nominated. Record-breaking artists are recognized and honored on this night, as the awards are determined by artist performance on the Billboard music charts, not an easy feat.
The music charts are set by fan interaction with albums and single hits. Such categories at the BBMAs include: Top New Artist (2020 Winner: Billie Eilish), Top Artist (2020 Winner: Post Malone), Top Song Sales Artist (2020 Winner: Lizzo), and so on.

Known for its imminent importance in the music industry, it's no surprise that the BBMAs have been a home for debut releases and memorable performances.
