What to Expect from 'Why Women Kill' Season 2 on Paramount+

Season 2 of Why Women Kill is now streaming on Paramount+.

The hit show Why Women Kill is back on Paramount+ with an all-new season, cast, and mystery.

Following the success of its first season, the Desperate Housewiveswriter and creator Marc Cherry is back with the second season of the juicy and murderous drama Why Women Kill. Given its anthology format, season one stars Alexandra Daddario, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Lucy Liu are not reprising their roles. Instead, a new cast has been added, and a new plot will unfold.

However, the show's core premise of exploring the lives of women driven to kill and its dark and humorous tone is still the same.

In regard to this season's storyline, Cherry told Entertainment Weekly:

"I had season 2 in my back pocket. I was watching a movie, which I thought was really good, about a serial killer, but the third act wasn't. They introduced a character ever so briefly of this serial killer's wife. I thought, I want to see a story line from her point of view. I started coming up with this idea of a woman who feels powerless and unseen in the world and very much wants to sit at the cool kids' table. As luck would have it, she finds out that for all her feeling powerless in the world, she has a very powerful tool at her disposal."

This 10-episode season will tell the story of housewife Alma Fillcot, played by Allison Tolman, who feels like an outsider in her 1940s picture-perfect suburban community filled with well-dressed women who set impossible standards.

To join these women's ranks, Fillcot must become a member of their exclusive gardening club, something she wants more than anything else. As a club member, she meets this season's villain: fellow housewife Rita Castillo, played by Lana Parrilla.

What unfolds has not been revealed, but with Marc Cherry at the wheel, it's sure to be full of secrets, sex, misadventure, and of course, murder.
