The new documentary Stuntwomen: The Untold Hollywood Story proves girls can kick butt!
The new documentary is based on Mollie Gregory's best-selling book of the same name and narrated by Fast and Furious star Michelle Rodriguez was directed by April Wright. According to IMDB the film follows:
"An action-documentary about the evolution of stunt women from The Perils of Pauline (1914) and beyond."
The documentary features interviews with Hollywood directors Paul Verhoeven, Paul Feig, Anne Fleetcher and producer Al Ruddy who talk about the importance of stunt performers along with interviews of the best and honorable stuntwomen working in the industry. The documentary shares archival and rare footage and photos while Turner Classic Movie, Ben Mankiewicz guides Rodriquez and two other stunt performers on the early days of cinema when actresses performed their own stunts.
Diane Warren, 11-time Oscar nominee wrote a new song for the film "Without a Net" performed by Mickey Guyton. Stephanie Austin, Michael Gruskoffm and Marion Rosenberg all produced the film. Rodriguez also served as an executive producer along with Lex Hamilton, Jay Strommen, Larry Nealy, Robert Hickman, Lynwood Spinks, Ryan Bury and James Andrew Felts. The documentary will be released on digital platforms September 22.
