The Dropout | Trailer | Hulu

Hulu has unveiled the official trailer.

Hulu has released the first trailer for “The Dropout,” a dramatic portrayal of the life, career, and downfall of Stanford dropout and Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes, played by Amanda Seyfried. It is lined up to debut with three episodes on March 3, with new episodes streaming weekly after that.

The Hulu Original Series, that's based on the podcast with the same name by Rebecca Jarvis and ABC Audio, chronicles the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes and her company, Theranos, which falsely claimed to have developed groundbreaking blood-testing technology.

Naveen Andrews will play Holmes’ former business partner Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani, who will face trial separately later this year.

The series also features a jam-packed cast playing recurring roles, including William H. Macy, Laurie Metcalf, Elizabeth Marvel, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Kate Burton, Michel Gill, Stephen Fry, Michael Ironside, Bill Irwin, Dylan Minnette, Alan Ruck, Sam Waterston, and Josh Pais.

“The Dropout” isn’t the only Holmes-centered project currently in progress. Adam McKay’s “Bad Blood,” starring Jennifer Lawrence as the Theranos leader, is currently in development. There are also two podcasts — the ABC News’ “The Dropout” and Carryrou’s “Bad Blood” — that had chronicled Holmes’ trial in great detail since its September 8 start.

The series marking Searchlight Television’s first production, in concert with 20th Television, was exec produced by Elizabeth Meriwether, Liz Heldens, Liz Hannah, Katherine Pope, Rebecca Jarvis, Victoria Thompson, and Taylor Dunn, with Meriwether also serving as showrunner. Michael Showalter, who directed multiple episodes, also exec produced with his Semi-Formal Productions partner Jordana Mollick.
