The iconic film The Devil Wears Prada starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanely Tucci was released in 2006 and is now celebrating its 15th anniversary.
Based on the 2003 Lauren Weisberger novel of the same name, the story follows recent Northwestern grad and aspiring journalist Andy. The plot revolves around her experience at a high fashion magazine called Runway as a personal assistant to the cutthroat editor in chief Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), based on Anna Wintour from Vogue. The film cleverly tackles themes of power struggles, work life balance, body image, and finding out who your real friends are.
For its 15th Anniversary, the cast came together for a reunion with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the film. Adrian Grenier, who plays Andy's boyfriend Nate in the film, touches on the new cultural interpretation of the movie that he is actually the antagonist of the film, due to his immaturity and lack of support for his significant other's success in her career.
Although a sequel is reported to be unlikely, A Devil Wears Prada musical is set to premiere on Broadway in July 2021.
