After several delays in releasing Christopher Nolan's newest film to theaters for in-person viewing, Tenethas officially been delayed indefinitely.
When Will Theaters Release "Tenet"?
Warner Bros. has removed Tenet from its theatrical release calendar. Originally, this film was scheduled to debut July 17 in theaters until it was pushed back a few more weeks to July 31, and then it was pushed back once again to August 12. Now, the film's release date is completely up in the air as the studio no longer has a set date. This decision is in light of the uncertainty around the safety in opening cinemas to the public at this present time. Even so, you can expect Warner Bros. to make an updated announcement quite soon. Toby Emmerich, chairman of Warner Bros., said in a statement:
"We will share a new 2020 release date imminently for 'Tenet,' Christopher Nolan's wholly original and mind-blowing feature. Our goals throughout this process have been to ensure the highest odds of success for our films while also being ready to support our theater partners with new content as soon as they could safely reopen."
If Warner Bros. would somehow plan to release this film overseas first, since cinemas are opening up internationally, then it would be an interesting move to say the least. Emmerich notes that this film will not get a common release due to the current state of the industry, and that their plans for distribution will reflect that. This potential route, however, raises concerns over piracy and spoilers being released. For a film that is known for its secrecy, this could majorly affect the audience demand to see the film.
Starring in Tenet is John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Kenneth Branagh.
