Stacey Abrams can now add two-time Emmy-nominee to her long list of accomplishments.
Abrams is a voting rights activist and a New York Times best-selling author, lawyer, and produced the award-winning documentary "All In: The Fight for Democracy," which was nominated for an Outstanding Writing For Non-Fiction Program Emmy nomination.
The voting rights activist's current nomination is in the category of Outstanding Character Voiceover Performance for the role of herself in the election special of the ABC animation series Black-ish. The two-part episode features Dre (Anthony Anderson) trying to learn more and run for local politics, turning to Abrams for advice. The episode aired last October prior to actual election day, and Abrams emphasized the importance of early voting as well as mail-in voting to Dre who runs for Congress.
The official Black-ish Twitter account congratulated Abrams on her Emmy nomination, and Abrams replied writing:
"Thank you for lifting up the rights of voters at such a critical time (and letting me appear such a fantastic show - awesome)! #blackish #EmmyAwards2021"
