The actress opened up about her feelings on returning to the show on a recent episode of The LA Times' new podcast.

The long running drama Grey's Anatomy was just renewed for its eighteenth season, ABC announced on Monday. With this came speculation on if Sandra Oh, known for her role of Dr. Cristina Yang on the show, would be returning at all.

The TV star put these hopes and speculations to rest on the LA Times podcast, "Asian Enough," a podcast dedicating to highlighting the joys and complications that come with being Asian American.

When asked if she was considering on returning to the show, Oh replied:

"No... I love it, though, and this is also why I really appreciate the show … that I still get asked this."

Oh, who was apart of the show for the first 10 seasons, has not appeared on it in the last seven years. She also added:

""n some ways, you do your work as a bubble and you let it go. I left that show, my God, seven years ago almost. So in my mind, it's gone. But for a lot of people, it's still very much alive. And while I understand and I love it, I have moved on."

The actor, an outspoken activist, also opened up about the show's decision to deliberately opt out of important conversations about race and the political climate. She said:

"One time … I wanted to do this really good joke with Sara Ramirez. Cristina was ambitious and just trying to get ahead, right? So she was just kind of trying to pull the like, you know, the POC card with Dr. Torres. But it wasn't the time. It just wasn't the time, and it wasn't the part of the show. So it wasn't anything that I actually focused on."

The star has since moved on to other projects, such as critically acclaimed BBC America series Killing Eve. She also plugged her upcoming Netflix original series comedy The Chair, which is set to premiere August 27.
