The holiday shade of it all!
During the 2021-2022 New Year’s Eve, CNN cohost Andy Cohen – who was reportedly drunk – threw some shade by saying that the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest telecast was like watching “Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers performing behind us.”
This year, CNN announced that it will be cutting back on the alcohol intake for its hosts during the network’s traditional New Year’s Eve show. Ahead of the telecasts airing this weekend, Seacrest has told EW that it’s “probably a good idea” for CNN to take those measures. The American Idol host said:
“There’s some pretty respectable people or at least one, right? I think there’s a serious journalist and then a friend of mine who has a lot of fun, but it’s probably a good idea. Although the viewers probably wish they would drink more. But I think they had something to say about my show at one point, which was I'm sure from the alcohol because, I don’t think they would say what they said about our performers if they weren’t drinking.”
Seacrest added to the shade, “But, you know, I think our show’s a bigger, broader show and we will not drink until 1:05 in the morning. Although, I might send them some Casa Dragones Tequila just to tempt them while they’re on the air.”
Though Seacrest told the publication that he’s seen TV personalities and musicians doing their jobs well after having a few drinks, he has an opposite stance on such matters. “For me, it’s a little more intense,” he noted. “I prefer not to do that on a live broadcast so I get the countdown right. I don’t want to screw it up.”
Who knew that the library was still open despite this being a holiday week?
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest airs December 31 on ABC.
