In a new cover story for Vogue, Rihanna opened up about her relationship began with A$AP Rocky and how it all started.

The "Disturbia" singer, who's now 34 and expecting her first child with A$AP Rocky, revealed to Vogue that the rapper initially started off in the "friend zone." Rihanna recalls meeting A$AP during her 2012 MTV VMAs performance of "Cockiness."

"He grabbed my ass on stage. That was not part of the rehearsal! I was like, ‘What are you doing!?'" Rihanna said.

As a surprise, Rihanna let the unsolicited move slide and told her management team to let it go. The Fenty Beauty Founder continued, saying,

"My manager was like, ‘Oh, God, she must like this guy a little bit. She never lets this s--t slide," Rihanna added.

From there on, the rest was history. In the interview, she mentioned that no one could get past the talking stage until he came along.

"People don't get out of the friend zone very easily with me. And I certainly took a while to get over how much I know him and how much he knows me, because we also know how much trouble we can land each other in," Rihanna said.

Things started heating up for them when the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The pair decided to take a road trip from Los Angeles to New York throughout the country on a tour bus. They would stop by arbitrary places and while Rihanna was grilling the food on her "little janky grill from Walmart, A$AP was tie-dying T-shirts.

"He became my family in that time. I love the simple things but also the grand adventures. There's no pretentious my-brand-your-brand bullshit, it's just us living. I just feel like I can do any part of life by his side," Rihanna said.

She even introduced him to her family in Barbados. Her mother, who's supposedly a tough person to impress, took a liking to A$AP. With a baby on the way, Rihanna explained how the pregnancy wasn't necessarily planned.

"I don't know when I ovulate or any of that type of s--t... We just had fun. And then it was just there on the test. I called him inside and showed him. Then I was in the doctor's office the next morning and our journey began," she stated.
