Broadway Actress Rebecca Luker Has Passed Away At 59

Three-time Tony Award nominee, Rebecca Luker has passed away at age 59 and performed on stage for more than 30 years.


The news was confirmed by The New York Times and by her agent Sarah Fargo. The actress was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also known as ALS. The actress announced she diagnosed with the disease back in February.

Luker began her acting career in The Phantom of the Opera in 1989 and went on be performing in musicals like Show Boat, The Sound of Music, The Music Man, and Mary Poppins. Her final performance on stage was in 2019 as a featured role in a production of Footlose at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

The Broadway community has taken to social media and are speaking out to pay tribute to the beloved actress.

Luker leaves behind her husband Danny Burstein and two stepsons, Zachary and Alexander. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Luker's fans, friends, and family. She will be missed.
