"West Side Story" star Rachel Zegler has been invited to present at the Academy Awards this weekend, a few days after the actor publicly said she had not been invited to the ceremony.

Three days after the"West Side Story" actress revealed she was not invited to this year's ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has asked her to present at the award show. She's currently in London filming Disney's live-action remake of Snow White.

The news that Zegler had not been invited to the Oscars sparked outrage amongst many who were looking forward to seeing the star of the most acclaimed Latino-focused film of the year represent their community on Hollywood's biggest night.

The rumble started when a fan said they were excited to see Zegler slaying the red carpet. She replied to the Instagram comment,

"I'm not invited, so sweatpants and my boyfriend's flannel."

When fans asked why she wasn't invited to the Oscars, Zegler said,

"Idk y'all. I have tried it all, but it doesn't seem to be happening :') I will root for West Side Story from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did three years ago. I hope some last-minute miracle occurs and I can celebrate our film in person, but hey, that's how it goes sometimes, I guess. Thanks for all the shock and outrage—I'm disappointed, too. But that's okay. So proud of our movie."

Set in the 1950s, "West Side Story" centers on the rivalry between two teenage street gangs, the Jets, a white gang, and the Sharks, a Puerto Rican gang, as their communities faced displacement during New York City's urban renewal period. Their rivalry intensifies when Tony, a Jet, falls in love with Maria, the younger sister of Sharks leader Bernardo.

The 94th Oscars will be held this Sunday at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. It will air on ABC.
