Priscilla Presley has recently reacted to Baz Luhrmann's upcoming film "Elvis."
The actress, 76, who was married to Elvis from 1967-1973 had nothing but praise for the director and biopic.
In a lengthy statement posted to Facebook, Priscilla shared her thoughts.
“It is a true story told brilliantly and creatively that only Baz, in his unique artistic way, could have delivered,” she said.
Priscilla revealed that Luhrmann set up a private screening of the film for her and Jerry Schilling, one of Elvis's talent managers, at the Warner Brothers Studios.
"Elvis," which stars Austin Butler in the iconic role as Elvis, tells the story of the King of Rock & Roll's rise to fame, as well as his relationship with manager Colonel Tom Parker, played by Tom Hanks.
While portraying Elvis Presley is no small task, it appears Austin Butler rose to the occasion in a performance that Priscilla said was "outstanding."
“Halfway through the film Jerry and I looked at each other and said WOW!!!” she said. “Bravo to him… he knew he had big shoes to fill. He was extremely nervous playing this part. I can only imagine.”
While we all know how the story tragically ends, Priscilla wrote that she hopes the film will help fans to "understand a little bit more of Elvis’ journey, penned by a directer who put his heart and soul and many hours into this film."
"Elvis" will be released in theaters on June 24, 2022.
