Movie News Is Heating Up For The Summer

Each day, it appears the movie industry is getting closer to its pre-pandemic "normal". This week that includes a return to Cannes for the annual film festival. Among the movies making their world premieres in the south of France is Baz Luhrmann's highly-anticipated; Elvis.

Elvis - In Theaters June 24th

Oscar-nominee Baz Luhrmann doesn't do anything simple. Even if he's re-making Romeo and Juliet it is an over the top masterpiece. From Moulin Rouge to Australia his films are epic in scale. And so appears to be his newest movie; Elvis. The King of Rock and Roll is finally getting his due on the big screen. Along with Austin Butler as Elvis and Tom Hanks as his manager Colonel Tom Parker, the movie also stars Kelvin Harrison Jr. as blues legend B.B. King. Check out our new interview at the top of the page with Kelvin as he tells us about Austin Butler's incredible transformation into Elvis.

The Lost City - Streaming Now On Paramount+

How's this for star power: Oscar winners Sandra Bullock and Brad Pitt along with fellow superstars Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe. That's just some of the cast of the hilarious movie; The Lost City.

While it wasn't a huge hit, recently, at the box office (few releases other than Marvel movies have been) it is definitely worth seeing. And now it's available to watch at home on digital or streaming on Paramount+.

These days it feels like every film either involves super heroes, blood and gore or is something animated for kids. There are very few fun, sweet rom-coms being made anymore. I miss Nora Ephron, I miss Nancy Meyers and I had been missing something light from Sandra Bullock.

She and Channing Tatum are wonderful in this. They are silly, funny, playful and sweet. Don't go in expecting Oscar-worthy performances. Just go to have fun, laugh and swoon at this gorgeous couple.

There are also fun supporting performances by Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Bowen Yang and The Office co-star Oscar Nuñez.

I got to chat with Oscar (see interview at top of this page) about the film and his friendship with Sandra Bullock. The two first worked together in The Proposal and have remained friends. In fact Sandra, who is a producer on this film, reached out to Oscar personally to invite him to be a part of the project.

Come for the best-looking rescue squad ever (Pitt and Tatum), stay for Daniel Radcliffe as one convincingly evil villain...and enjoy every moment of Bullock magic!
