Today's #SeeHer spotlight is on the stars of FX's Pose.
All eyes are onPose this Sunday. The critically acclaimed drama received a whopping nine Emmy nominations and the cast couldn't be happier about it. For starters, MJ Rodriguez is making history this Sunday as the first transgender woman to receive a nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category. Rodriguez said:
"It made me feel accepted more than I've felt accepted in a long time. I felt like my colleagues now see me — my acting colleagues."
The show is groundbreaking without a doubt, as Rodriguez is one of many transgender actresses in a leading role.
Rodriguez's costar Hailie Sahar had this to say about the groundbreaking show:
Visibility matters. Storytelling matters. It is important for us to really protect our history and to just give a lesson to the rest of the world that really needs to catch up to understanding something that has been around since the beginning of time."
Pose, fresh off the release of its third and final season, was not only recognized in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category. The other categories in which Pose was recognized include: Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Billy Porter who has already won in this category).
Tune in to the 73rd Primetime Emmys this Sunday on CBS at 8:00pm EST to see how Pose fares against the competition. The event will also be available to stream on Paramount Plus. For more about #SeeHer, click here.
