Barack Obama gave Drake his "stamp of approval" when asked about the Canadian rapper's interest in portraying the former president in a possible film.
Drake first expressed interest in playing President Obama in 2010, and in 2012 he told NME:
I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama's life soon because I could play him. That's the goal. I watch all the addresses.
Barack Obama recently appeared on 360 With Speedy Morman.
There were many things that were covered in the interview including a reflection on his presidency, racism, Donald Trump, COVID-19, law enforcement, and his new memoir A Promised Land which had already sold 1.7 million copies by November 24, breaking records for first week sales of presidential memoirs. Another thing that was addressed in the interview was Drake's interest in playing him if the opportunity presented itself, to which Obama replied,
I will say this—Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants. I mean, that is a talented, talented brother. If the time comes and he's ready... Drake has, more importantly, my household's stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it.
