International tennis star Novak Djokovic was denied entry from Australia due to his vaccination status.

Djokovic's visa was recently canceled due to not providing the proper materials regarding the vaccine laws implemented by the Australian government.

Djokovic could get deported. As of right now, he's in an immigration detention hotel, awaiting a court ruling regarding playing in the Australian Open. The Serbian star is set to spend another night in immigration detention. The chances of him leaving prior to the tournament are up in the air.

Djokovic's family is stepping up in support of the tennis star. His father Srdjan Đoković told reporters,

"They're keeping him in captivity. They're stomping all over Novak to stomp all over Serbia and Serbian people."

Federal Circuit Court Judge Anthony Kelly is overseeing the case, and he claimed that there was a delay in receiving the application. Being that there was a pause, Jokovic case will start Monday.

The Prime Minister for Australia, Scott Morrison, chimed in on the matter. Morrison said,

"You need to have a medical exemption. He didn't have a valid medical exemption. We make the call at the border, and that's where it's enforced."

From players to staff, everyone involved in the tournament must be vaccinated against COVID. An independent panel could issue an exemption. The tennis star is trying to compete for his 10th Australian Open singles championship. The Australian Open starts January 17 and ends January 30.
