Netflix released its newest documentary Immigration Nation, which explores ICE operations, immigrant stories, and more.
The new Netflix series has field access to ICE (Immigrant Customs Enforcement) and through this footage shows how the immigration system is run. The docuseries portrays ICE as a strong, powerful system with a lack of human rights shown to achieve policies.
The series mentions many people, including advocates and lawyers working hard to protect immigrants including North Carolina activist Stefania Arteaga, who is fighting against enabling Section 287(g) even though her status is not secure. While the documentary does not make stark claims, ICE is not well received and according to Variety, ICE members have disagreed with their roles and are "shocked by the mischaracterizations."
