The biggest stars in the world descended on the Upper East Side in Manhattan Monday night for the prestigious Met Gala.

Usually taking place on the first Monday of May, the annual charity function has been on a two year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With protocols in place, the dress code for this year's function was listed as "American Independence" and stars got creative with the theme. Here are just some of the looks served on the red carpet.
