Following in the footsteps of Tomorrowland, Chicago-based music festival Lollapalooza will be moved online this year.
The Lineup
Despite numerous Youtube videos of the festival's sets each year for the last decade, this year is the first one to be fully virtual. This year, Lollapalooza will stream from July 30th to August 2nd, beginning at 6PM ET. The virtual event in 100% free, and there will be over 150 performances from artists including Kehlani, Louis the Child, The Neighbourhood and A$AP Rocky. There will also be appearances by Common, Michelle Obama and LL Cool J.
Social Justice
The Lollapalooza team will be working with three charities: the Arts for Illinois Relief Fund, which provides financial relief to creative workers, industries and organizations impacted by COVID-19. The Equal Justice Initiative, which that provides legal representation to wrongfully convicted or poor prisoners and others without a fair trial. And When We All Vote, which works to ensure every citizen is eligible to vote. Organizers will match donations up to $10,000 for each charity on their website.
