Two major theater venues announced reopening plans on Wednesday, April 13.

The Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. have announced they will hold Broadway productions beginning in both November and October.

Because the Ahmanson is now opening later than expected, they will miss their original August opening with Oklahoma! and instead open November 30 with A Christmas Carol.

Other productions for the Ahmanson's upcoming season include The Prom, Hadestown, Dear Evan Hansen and more.

The Ahmanson website states:

"With Los Angeles County progressing through the state's tiered reopening framework, and with vaccines being made available on an expedited timeline (please get vaccinated!), we are heartened and hopeful that a return to in-person theatre at the Ahmanson is possible in 2021. The past 14 months have been challenging for all of us—particularly in the performing arts—and we have just a few more months to go."

The Kennedy Center will open on October 13 with Hadestown in the Opera House.

At the Kennedy Center's Einsenhower Theater, the Carole King musical Beautiful begins performances in December. Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations will also premiere in December.

Meanwhile, Broadway is also making strides to reopen. While there has been no official date to reopen, Governor Cuomo has targeted a reopening for the fall and efforts to vaccinate Broadway actors have been announced.
