Rapper and designer Kanye West first started his Yeezy line with Nike in 2007 and then moved to Adidas in 2013. Now, West has just announced a collaboration between his Yeezy line and retail company Gap.
Kanye West returns to his humble beginnings with Gap
Some would be surprised to hear that it's not West's first time working with Gap. In his song Spaceship released in his 2004 album The College Dropout, he raps about how he used to work at a Gap store before making records. Now, West is able to say that he has come full circle and is back with Gap, this time, designing a clothing line for them.

Gap Makes A Statement
Along with West's tweets, Gap came out with a statement announcing that the Yeezy Gap line will be available in 2021. Global Head of Gap Brand Mark Breitbard describes the collab, saying:
"We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his YEEZY brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership"
West's Yeezy line has been known to be exclusive, but in this case, Gap tells otherwise, explaining:
"Under West's creative direction, the YEEZY design studio will develop the new line to deliver modern, elevated basics for men, women and kids at accessible price points, with the creative process just getting underway. Additionally, West's design vision will extend to unique YEEZY Gap expressions in Gap stores and digital channels over time."
According to The Wall Street Journal, Gap jumps 39% to $14.19 as of 10:01 AM on June 26th.
Foreshadowing From 2013
After West's twitter announcement, his wife Kim Kardashian West posted a clip of an interview of his from 2013 to her IG story. West is seen talking to 99.7 NOW! about his merch sales and he even mentions Gap, saying:
"Our first night we sold 83,000 tour merch, you know, in one night. So, imagine if you take these types of thoughts and connect it with a corporation like the Gap."
Kim also adds to her story congratulating her husband and describing how meaningful the Gap is to him:
"If anyone knows Kanye they know how much the Gap and yeezy means to him so this partnership is his dream come true! I am so proud of him. You guys are going to love what they have in store for everyone! From working at the Gap to this partnership is so inspiring #WestDayEver"
