On April 9th of this year, famous rapper Earl Simmons, aka DMX passed away at the age of 50. In his honor, Kanye West teamed up with Balenciaga to raise money for the late rapper's family.

West appointed Balenciaga to join forces with his own brand, Yeezy, to create t-shirts to sell in honor of DMX. Each shirt went for $200 each.

The shirt sales exceeded one million dollars and were donated to DMX's family after selling out in just 24 hours.

A source told Entertainment Tonight that West brought in esteemed artist Akeem Smith to help with the project concepts and visuals.

Aside from creating the t-shirt, West also held one of his famous Sunday services in DMX's honor in the Barclay's Center two weeks after his death.

The source also said that Kanye "produced the entire service with his Yeezy creative force behind him."

"Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him," said DMX's family of their late loved one. "Earl's music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time."

Rest in peace, DMX.
