The first college football bowl game to ever be named after a human finds its sponsor in late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
Kimmel announced the news during his monologue on Wednesday night:
"Ever since I was 52, which was last year, I've dreamed of having a college football bowl game named after me. And tonight I am thrilled to announce that that dream is finally coming true."
The brand new SoFi stadium in Inglewood, CA is the site of the "Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl".
The game was supposed to be held in December of last year but was postponed due to the pandemic.

Kimmel posted a clip from his Wednesday night monologue to Twitter in which he jokes about joining the ranks of other sponsors such as Cheez-Its, Papa Johns, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, etc.
On Thursday night, Kimmel claimed that the announcement of his sponsorship is "taking the world of sports by storm." He proved this by showing a collection of news coverage clips of the announcement. One news anchor said "all of those bowl names are silly anyway." Kimmel jokingly retorted:
"Hey! You're not gonna ruin my mood. Things are really turning around in 2021."
The Jimmy Kimmel Bowl is scheduled to take place at the SoFi stadium on December 18th, 2021. The game will air on ABC and it will feature the Mountain West's No. 1 selection and the PAC-12's No. 5 selection.
