Jerry O'Connell has joined the daytime talk show The Talk as its first male co-host ever. This comes nearly four months after former co-host Sharon Osbourne made her controversial exit.
On Wednesday, CBS show The Talk announced that frequent guest host Jerry O'Connell will be joining the show as a permanent co-host.
"It's real exciting," he said on the program. "First of all, I want to say, you ladies have been so welcoming to me. I mean, I came here as a guest months ago, and just from the moment I walked in, you're just gracious, you're kind, you're fun, and it worked. And here we are. We're going to have a lot of fun, we really are."
O'Connell is the first male co-host to join the show alongside Sheryl Underwood, Elaine Welteroth, Amanda Kloots, and Carrie Ann Inaba.
The Jerry Maguire actor is replacing Sharon Osbourne, one of the original co-hosts of The Talk, who exited her longtime chair after getting in an on-air argument with co-host Underwood regarding Piers Morgan's comments about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Morgan left his job on ITV's Good Morning Britain after being ousted as a racist for refusing to believe the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. At the same time, Osbourne faced her own accusations of racism towards her colleagues.
Osbourne and CBS parted ways, with the network saying in a statement, "The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home."
