You may know Jake Tapper from his news programs on CNN or for the various books he's published. But on Tuesday, he became known for his hot takes on theIndiana Jonesfranchise.

On June 8th, for reasons unknowable to us mere mortals, Jake Tapper took to Twitter to dish criticism onto Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the second installment in the Indiana Jones franchise. This came only hours after Tapper gave an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer in which he zestfully shared his opinions on Philadelphia's various sports teams, yet another subject in which he styled himself a connoisseur.

Minutes later, Tapper deleted his tweet about Temple of Doom and instead took shots at Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. He claimed that it was Spielberg's worst film and he had only criticized Temple of Doom because Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was so bad that he had repressed his memory of it.

While Tapper's original remarks drew some criticism, few disagreed with his take on Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The film is widely regarded as the worst entry in the Indiana Jones franchise, and often ranks as one of Spielberg's most forgettable productions alongside the critically-panned 1941, the out-of-touch political commentary The Post, and the syrupy fantasy film Hook. Spielberg, for his part, did not issue a reply to Tapper's tweets.
